A Japanese businessman once told me that hanami translates to “sitting under the cherry blossoms and drinking Chūhai!” While that may not be the true translation to this centuries old tradition of “viewing the flowers,” it certainly is favored in the Land of the Rising Sun, where locals anticipate the blossoming year round, and rejoice at first site of the splendid Sakura. These days hanami can be enjoyed around the world.
