The ruins, as seen from the top of Machu Picchu Mountain. It's easy to see why the Incas choose to locate here - the wide bend in the Urubamba River has carved out a spectacular little plateau riding the saddle between two isolated peaks - Huayna Picchu pictured here and Machu Picchu, which I'm standing on.

    Phenomenal photo! The hike up Cerro Machu Picchu is definitely one of the best I've done.
