The "waters that changed the world.". Historic Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Pools complex. Seeking relief from polio FDR swam in the naturally warm mineral waters of Meriwether County, Ga. The pools are normally kept empty for preservation, however, twice a year they are filled for visitors. It was here that FDR developed the inner strength to run for the governorship of New York & later the presidency of the United States. The pools and his "Little White House" are open daily, now operated as a state historic site.
