The Library of Celcus is the most stunning architectural remains of the ancient city of Ephesus. Built in the 2nd century AD, it was considered to be the third largest library in the ancient world. It was built in honor of Roman Senator Celsus, whose sarcophagus was buried in a crypt of this library. As you come closer to the facade and into the hall, check out the architecture and its similarities to ancient Greek architecture. Additional visitation tips: Ephesus is such a big archeological site, one can easily spend from half to full day exploring its antiquities. Most visitors, like me, come in tour groups with a knowledgeable guide. I don't recommend it, especially for a site with so much history to explore. Check out the magnificent remains of the Grand Theater of Ephesus nearby, take your time and enjoy its magnificent scale and perfect acoustics. How to get here: The archeological ruins can be easily reached by cars from big cities like Izmir or Bodrum. There are, also, a number of daily tour buses from Izmir and Bodrum. #InStone
