Sekinchan - Rice Bowl of Malaysia Sekinchan is a small town on the west coast of Malaysia just north of Kuala Selangor and about a 75 minute drive from Kuala Lumpur. It is well know both for its seafood and its rice. This area is one of the major rice producing areas of Malaysia and the well irrigated rice paddies have one of the highest yields of rice in the country. The area now is becoming more popular with visitors coming to sample the fresh seafood or chill out in one of the many homestays in the area. You can even buy the local rice from one of the rice millers in the area. It is a very scenic area and great for photography offering simple rural scenes with contrasting colours of green rice paddies and bright blue skies.
