Bryan Mier (aka Birdman Photos), featured trover

Birdman

Location: Downtown Los Angeles

What’s your “Day Job?” I’m a music copyright researcher. Wait! Stay with me! I spice up the cubicle life by documenting street art around LA, mostly at night, often by climbing over fences, scaling buildings, crawling under bridges.

What are you working on now? By day, I work 40 hours a week. At night, I go driving around Melrose Blvd. or downtown till I find a piece I like. My passion is discovering new street artists and documenting their work. On weekends I cover art shows for a few art websites with photos or interviews. Never stop working!!

My subject matter moves me because… The artwork I see on electrical boxes around Hollywood is some of the finest in the world. I’m also inspired by non-profit projects like LA Free Walls that give graffiti artists places where they can paint legally.

Trover is... a cool way of finding and capturing random art and spreading it to the world. It’s also hugely entertaining. I love going onto Trover and perusing all the weird and wonderful stuff.

Trover tip: Try to give your fellow Trovers the same experience you had. I want people to see what I saw and feel what I felt when I was standing in awe in front of a 50-foot tall mural, even if it means urban climbing and late, late nights.

My best discovery ever is: WHRC. Standing at 6 stories tall, and done using stencils!!!
